Microsofts answer to the iPhone - the ZenZui

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

Yesterday Microsoft announced that they were launching a new independent company called ZenZui. ZenZui is a mobile interface company focusing on changing they way that users interact with the web via mobile devices. Wow… what an accomplishment! What they really have is a license to use a patented Microsoft technology to make zooming widgets.

Watch this video and you will get a small idea of what the zooming technology they are talking about can do.

Hmm… nothing that I have not talked about and already seen in the iPhone… I wonder how this patent will hold up.

But more importantly I would like to point out how ugly all the devices in the video are! They are all hideous! It further strengthens my point that Apples big advantage is in building both the software and the hardware.

No gphone… integrated apps for the iPhone instead!

Sunday, March 25th, 2007

According to this source google has never really considered building their own iPhone, but rather they are focusing on building integrated applications for the iPhone and other smart phones.

I think this makes total sense… as I’ve stated before, Apple is great at making consumer devices because they control both the hardware development and the software development lifecycles. As Apple learned with its failed Motorola venture the ROKR, when they don’t control both product lifecycles, it will be a failure.
